Service Learning Reflection

Okay Fridays service learning meeting we went over the minutes from the last meeting and Darrin informed us that he contacted the RISE Magazine about publishing an article about Genocide in Darfur. Kate also found a pamphlet with the Darfur information and some impressive numbers that might catch some peoples eyes and attention. I really want to start fundraising for the wrist bands ASAP because to go to meetings and not make noticeable progress makes me apprehensive. I know that wrist bands off of the http://www.savedarfur.org website are sold in packages of 10 for $15. So I want to start writing that letter to give to businesses and other people for support and donations. We are also starting that documentary on Darfur. At the meeting we also watched a video on Darfur to as much information as humanly possible. I learned how the UN isn't doning anything to stop this activity in Darfur from continuing, the promised never again and the are turning a blind eye to what is happening. No Body cares about these people is the feeling that I get from learning more about Darfur and the efforts being made to help these people. I always had a compassion for people in need but now doing service learning I actually get to go out and make a real difference no matter how big or small it may be it is a difference none the less. If I were to change anything about my group it would be the leadership. I know that the original idea was Brittany's and Aquilla's but it seems as though Aquilla is the leader that is doing the most to make progress in the group. I know that it is easier said then done but I see Aquilla making calls and emailing people about helping our group and getting info from many different people and others.

Next Meetings Agenda:
* We are going to finish the movie
* I should be done the letter so I make at least 5 copies and everyone can take a look at them and see if it needs revision.
* Talk about the website link in my email I have a few questions about it
* I want to check the progress of the others: The book search, the documentary, the brochure people, and lastly the letters.

I wish to make more growing progress we did tons of planning now I want to see were we can get with that planning.
